1935 - 1999

Bob was born in Napanee and spent most of his life in the area, the last 28 years in Sydenham. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1954 to 1959. He joined Alcan Productions (Kingston Works) where he was employed from 1959 to 1994.

Bob's first love and his lifetime passion was hockey. He earned the nickname "Spider" at an early age do to his wiry frame, long arms and legs and his ability to cover a lot of territory in a hurry thus "Watch that spider on the blue-line" Bob's hockey career spanned six decades and took him from coast to coast in Canada, as well as Florida and Denmark. He was on the winning team in the Royal Canadian Navy, returning to play for Pringles in the Limestone League and for Alcan. Eventually he joined the defence line in the Oldtimers Hockey League traveling to Copenhagen Denmark with the Kingston Greenwoods team where they triumphed over the Danes in 1978.

"Spider" continued his hockey career with Theo's Cavalier, and was with Kelsey' Old Buzzards until his illness forced him off the ice and he reluctantly hung up his skates for the last time in September 1998. However, throughout his illness and even when in critical condition he wanted to know the scores of the NHL games. He even had his picture taken with the Stanley Cup while in hospital.

Bob took early retirement in 1994 hoping to fully indulge his love of cottage life and nature at Desert Lake with his wife Bev and their family. He did extensive renovations on the cottage always striving to make "the Camp" a more comfortable retreat. His illness interrupted his dream.

Bob's strong will, innate toughness and indomitable spirit carried him and his family through his illness until he finally succumbed on May 30th 1999 at the age of 64.

He is survived by Beverly, his wife of 35 years and their four children Andrew, Jennifer, Lauren, and Cathy as well as five grandchildren Dylan, Julia, Hannah, Riley, and Tyler.
