An adoring and loving father of Emily, member of the Harley Owner’s Group, and team member of the Lead Wings, Godrey Goodtimers and The Whig-Standard hockey teams, Brian Gibbs was happiest spending time with all of these special people in his life.
Brian loved the game of hockey and he loved the Habs. He played the game as a kid, gave it up for a time, and then came back with great enthusiasm to play with the Old Timers. After Brian’s sudden death in September of 1994, all three of his teams honored his memory in their own special ways. The Lead Wings added a smiley face to their sweater design, (Brian’s smile was infectious), the Godfrey Goodtimers added his initials B.G., (one of his many nicknames) and the guys on the Whig team, where his wife Joan still works, added Brian’s # 8 to all their sweaters.
Brian would be thrilled to know that the Leftovers have honoured his memory along with so many other players of the game. Together these guys would make one hell of a good team.
Brian’s widow, Joan Willison, is grateful to Terry Wright and everyone involved with this tournament for their efforts to raise money for children’s cancer. Thank you for volunteering your time and energy to such an important cause and for including Brian, who is still missed every day, in such an honorable lineup of memorial divisions.
