
Robert Belmont " Bobby " Brown
1922-2002
Bobbby was born on August 27th,1922, and grew up across from the outer railway station in the north end of Kingston .He served in the Royal canadian Air Force from 1942 to 1946.During WW II bobby did campaigns in North Africa, Burma, Pakistan, and India.. The majorityof hisworking lifewas spentat the department of National Defence in Kingston whwerehe was employedas a civil servant driver from 1956-1987.
Bobby's first love of hockey beganas a kid playing shinny next to the old pump house on the Rideau Canal, and peddling to the Jock harty Arena for games . Bobby's real hockey career began in 1942 with the RCAF Flyers at Goose Bay , Labrador. Although most of the RCAF team had major junior or minor pro experience Bobby became one of the better players and quickly earned their respect. one of his biggest thrills was playing for the RCAF Flyers in two exhibition games against the Army team in front of 10,000 fans at Wembley pool in England .
After the war Bobby played in the late 40's and 50's for numerouslocal hockwey teams such as the Marker Men , and Ace Motors . His stellar play did not go unnoticed as he was asked to tryout ( he declined ) for the RCAF Flyers team that later went on to win gold in the 1948 Olympics .
Bobby's love affair with the game continued on in the 60's 70's 80's 90's and into the year 2002 . during these years he was a ficture defenceman for : CFB Kingston Transport, Kingston leftovers , Godfrey Goodtimers, Grandpaws, aand Lorne's Mauler's . Bobby even played hockey the morning of the day he suffered a life ending strokeat home, and died in his 81st yearon November 21st , 2002
Bob was married in 1952 to Francis mary Kazma ( passed away in 1995 ) and is survived by his only son and best friend Paul |
