Kingston Leftovers Hockey League
Pre-registered players 40 years of age and older are placed in a pool and assessed as A, B or, C rating each season. Each new hockey season different players from within our registrations are asked to assist in the drafting of teams and act as team representatives.

Draft Night at the Grizzly
Prior to the league starting a draft night is held at the Grizzly Grill to which all registered players are invited to attend. Goaltenders are selected last in the draft pool .and cannot  play for the same team  two years in a row they must go  to a different team each year. Players who are neighbors or live near each other in a community and wish to commute together have the opportunity of being traded to another team with the provision that players are equal to each team. The draft system employed by our league develops a safe recreational atmosphere whereby players get to know each other and develop new and old friendships.

Leftovers Rules: Skating, passing and shooting are encouraged  .   snap shots are allowed  , League officials are instructed to stop play immediately if a player is injured..  Penalties are called  and the player must sit in the box, until time has been served for penalty or a goal is scored by opposing team.

The following rules are designed to keep the play going and eliminate
unnecessary whistles.

When an icing infraction occurs the defending team is allowed the hash marks (safe zone) without being challenged. , If the puck does not clear the blue line, then it is possible to be scored upon  (  this eliminates chasing down the puck and avoids any contact on the boards  and possible injury )

Safety of Players
If  a stick makes  makes contact with  the puck above the waist  the play is whistled down , the  purpose of this rule is to avaid the possability of a facial injury from the deflection of a puck or a high stick .
